City lights on US elipsoids?

Can it be done? From the front of the car, to me it looks like there is a hole for the socket assembly to fit ... maybe I'm seeing things. So, can it be done, and more importantly has anyone done it?

I searched ... I found nothing relevant, so don't flame.
