Door handle collar locking nut

I am replacing my rusty doors and need to remove the whole outside door handle...
After removing the cover Bentley says to remove the bolt and "collar locking nut" - which is around the key lock.

How do I remove that lock collar nut?

do the job... bmw's tools is a 512070 , I have a number of sockets that i milled down the end of to leave 2 pins sticking up for various applications like this. You can also take a small chisel and grind down the end so its a blunt angled tool that fits right into one of the notches and tap on it to turn it and get it unscrewed that way.
