I presume that he is in ICU and so flowers are probably not a good idea.
Please keep us informed if there is anything we can do and tell him that we are all thinking of him !

He was washing his cars when he had it.
Guess the choice of which car to take was too much for him ;)

Tell him Mark D'Sylva sends his best wishes for a speedy recovery. I sent him an email but he probably won't be reading any email for a few weeks.

I had a heart attach back in Feb. 99 and I had an angioplasty with 2 stents installed, now I'm almost good as new! :D

Spoke to the nurse at 4:00pm. She said he was asleep so I couldn't talk to him, but he is stable - good news.

Hi Everyone
This is Cheryl -Phil's wife. Thank you so much for your wishes, I will pass them all onto Phil tomorrow.
I guessed you would all be checking up on him, so I thought I would pop in and let you know how he is.
He had a bad night last night and was exhaused today. He was unable to settle as he has fluid on the lungs and tonight he had a bit of temperature and rapid heart beat. The doctors and staff are great and are keeping a constant eye on him. He is improving slowly.
I will keep you updated.
Phil is going through withdrawals, with not being able to check in on Bimmer Info and he was trying to work out how he could get his PC into the hospital.
Regards Cheryl

I went to see him yesterday (19th Feb)
He was in good spirits and we enjoyed our time with him.
The hospital has given him a nicotine patch so he wasn't as grumpy.

If you'd like to get in touch with him or send flowers etc.

Sounds like you've got quite the bimmer.info support team. You could always ask the nurses to bring you a few auto mags and wrenches ;)

wifi network? cell phone internet? Best wished for speedy and full recovery. No go there... they don't allow wi-fi in hospitals over here, not even cell phones are ok.

Crumbs, I just read this thread, not having been there on the w/e I missed seeing him or hearing the news even- gee Phil, good luck mate. These days if you can make it through such a thing without losing it, once they revive you the repairs the ol' cardiovascular setup needs are not dissimilar to an e34 cooling system in nature... given the comprehensive approach Phil's taken to his cars, and the considered pearls of wisdom he's passed on to me the two times I have met him, I have no doubt he'll take charge of the situation and recover fast.

I guess the body is a bit like an old bimmer, it simply doesn't like changes as much as a new one...

Good luck Phil; I suggest you keep some mechanic's smelling salts (min 98 RON) handy so you can avoid the shakes next time we are headed for a big day out... you know we are all looking forward to hearing all about it, that pic Cheryl so kindly posted won't win you a job on a catwalk (even at BMW CCA function)!

All the best, :) Nick

just make sure they auto mags have no evil new age bangle designs bmws, It can cause anxiety in some people. :D glad to hear he is getting better, heart problems are not good at all.... unfortunately having heart problems just makes it more likely to have worse problems down the track usually....

Still many hours left of Feb 22 here...

Take it easy at home Phil. It'll take awhile before you feel well from what I've heard, and you dont want to cause a second attack. Not to worry you, but I know of people that had 2 or 3 of them a few days/weeks apart and had to go back in the hospital. Probably didn't follow the doc's orders either. But they are still kicking a few years later.

Phil--I am so glad you are ok. I like genphreaks comparison of the heart to the e34 cooling system. I am sure you will come up with a fix.
