For about a year I had one or two hydraulic valve lifters (M50 engine) which made the famous ticking sound when the engine is cold started, and after a minute or two they stopped. A week ago suddenly at -14 C. everything worked fine, no ticking, the engine purs like new! And it runs quiet since. How come? I must point out that it cant be from sudden cold (here in Europe it is cold since december), and the oil I use is same for years (full synthetic 0w40).
