I have a 94 540ia that is seems to be stuck in winter mode. Mine has the M (manual) and * snowflake switch next to the shifter. Every time I start it it starts out in winter mode. I swithc it to M but if I shift into 4 to get (Sport) it still displays a snow flake next to the gear and no S. I cannot get the E to come up at all. I disconnected the battery overnight. No help. Any suggestions

I got lucky and mine wont go into snow flake mode, did you try swapping the switch with the sunroof to see if its the switch itself?

I'm pretty sure that MD is virtually the same as winter mode, and MD is available to you.

It will hold the car in third gear all the time, facilitating slow, smooth starts and preventing unwated shifts that can upset the car on slippery surfaces.

It was in deed the switch. In fact that satanic little switch once removed allowed the OBC display to light up and a few other issues cleared up.

Since there is no justifiable need for "winter" mode in Phoenix I left it unpluged until the day I might sell it.

I am looking to the "Summer" Mode that keeps the steering wheel from getting 1 million degrees in the heat of the summer. :)

pick up a new switch, since theres no rush just pit it on your "to get" list.
