Hey i put a chip in a while agao and it raises the redline. I was driving last night and dind't get it all the way into 3rd and let the clutch out and gave it gas obiously i didn't go anywhere but the engine went VERY close to 7 grand... so im wondering is it safe for a m50 to see ~7 grand once and a while. I know with older chevy v8's their valves just float when overreved.

You have a 1992 M50 which implies (depending on where you live) that you have a M50 non vanos which does have double valve springs. This motor is capable of doing 7,200 - 7,500 RPM regularly without much harm at all - assuming the motor is in good running condition otherwise.

Wow cool now i don't feel so bad about the motor. How do you know it has double valve springs?
