The only issue my car has is a slight shimmy at 60mph and over that can be felt in the stearing wheel. My husband thinks it could be the wheel berrings sp? or control arm bushings. Also we've that the water pumps can be suspect and I was wondering about mine. The pump itself is plastic and was wondering is that how it came or is it aftermarket, because we've never seen a plastic water pump before.

What's this? A plastic impeller? (http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?t=10814&highlight=plastic+impeller)

And just so you know--Jeff gets pissy if you ask questions without doing a search first. Say you did even if you don't. :D

Nice car!! Congrats with it!!

But am I the only one who sees you have a grill of a V8 and the hood of the small grill??

Im just crazy about that color

For sure, that hood doesn't belong on that car. Makes you wonder what else has been kluged. I hope the OP ran a Carfax on it before buying it.

mystical_wings

carfax is a gimmic. Ive bought several cars with a carfax report only to find that they have had major repairs .My husband sold used cars for years and did major repairs to cars that would never show on a carfax report.Maybe you get the occasional carfax that is accurate ,but I doubt that percentage is very high. Its just a gimmic to make used car buyers feel warm and cozy in there ignorance.O and yes the car did come with a report ,for whatever its worth.

could only the grill been replaced and not the whole hood?

...see if they match the rest of the car. That grill/hood combo is not right.

if its really a 95 than that hood is wrong. I wonder what a carfax does say about that car. It was quite accurate on my car.

Can you explain what is different .shape ETC....beside the grill since that can be removed .Right?

The hood has been changend, not the grill...

From 1994 all E34's had the wide grill.
Also, is the color of your hood different then other parts of your car...

mystical_wings
01-25-2006, 01:27 PM
hm, no the hood is the same color as the rest of the car

mystical_wings
01-25-2006, 01:39 PM
all colors match exactly ,can anyone tell me the precise differance between mine and the original ,or is this special info.for the privelaged (s/p )only LOL

632 Regal

the body lines on the hood follow to the outsides of the grill, you have the wide grill but the narrow grill hood.

632 Regal
01-25-2006, 01:48 PM
and without a carfax you dont know what you have, the car could have been retagged as a 95 but could be an older car with a newer grill and a full repaint.

mystery car.

Before you suffer from heart failure, go here and type in your VIN#:

http://www.carfax.com/

Its free to see what year and model the VIN belongs to.

Plug the last 7 digits of your VIN into the BMW database at www.realoem.com to see if your production date matches the data on the inside of the driver's door label.

okay, i went to realoem.com and it is a 95.... also, i did get a carfax report, it shows that it is a 95 no mileage discrepencies and that there has been no accidents. We get a lot of tennis ball size hail here and its common to get major body damage from it, so more than likely the hood could have been changed for that reason.

632 Regal
01-25-2006, 02:41 PM
very possible plus a reason to repaint the whole car, the shop probably had no clue the difference in hoods among the years.

mystical_wings
01-25-2006, 02:51 PM
what year would it have come from ,older or newer?

632 Regal
01-25-2006, 03:32 PM
93 or older

DanH
01-25-2006, 04:52 PM
...more likely they were cutting corners on the repairs by using the cheapest hood they could find.

If this is a metallic colour then from some angles a camera will pick up the under (metallic) coat and show it as different. Even the sunlight from some angles shows all my original delphin panels as slightly different.

ya it is just the reflection of the clouds ,the whole car must have been painted ,cause the hood is exactly the same as rest of car ,just doesnt look like in pic
