I've recently fitted an obc in my 91 525, but some of the functions don't appear to be working. On consumption range and average speed I just get '---'. Limit will allow a speed to be set but doesnt chime when I go over that speed.

I'm assuming if there were no signals coming to the obc I'd get PPPP.

Also I fitted the turn signal BC switch, but the Yellow/red wire is on a 3 pin plug, the car only has a 2 pin socket. There is a yellow/red wire on the same part of the loom but this doesn't appear to be connected to the OBC. Will I have to run a seperate wire from the OBC to the switch?

Finally the obc displayed TIMER HEAT yesterday, but I can't seem to bring this up again. I dont expect the necessary relays etc will be in place for these functions anyway.

If you had no OBC to start, then you probably did not have a speaker installed neither. Does the clock chime ? You'll have to do a search for the speaker on this forum, or I think there is a page on the E34 site (http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/OBC.htm), if not on the DIY E34 page (http://www.bimmerdiy.com/e34).

Sometimes my OBC gives false alarms, like for my coolant, and for the oil. Expect it. If there is a real problem, then it will show up again.

To set the chime for every hour, just press the S/R when in clock mode. You will then see the icon on the top right corner showing it will chime. It will then chime one minute before every hour, three times. If that doesn't work, you know the speaker is the problem. And don't be silly and wait for the hour to come up, set the clock to 2 minutes to the hour before trying. ;)

The Timer Heat is for your car to warm up before you get into it. You set the hour at which, with a possibility of two times set. It's an option you probably do not have installed. Its extra equipment to put in.

That's the best of my knowledge so far, hope it helps some.

have you tried to set the limit to the current speed (http://luuk.xs4all.nl/bmwboeken/bmwe34manual/html/pg48.jpg.html) to see what you get?

I can set speed but do not get any signals when I reach or exceed that speed.

I've looked at the pin wiring on bmwe34.net, and found the 2 wires (pin 14 and 7) to the instrument cluster are connected ok, I'm not sure where to trace the DME/diagnostic/fueltank wires to!
