I am a newbie. I own a 91 M5 and 94 525i five speed (170K). I want to remove the AC from the 525 and I have been told that by removing the AC I'll lose the defrost. Is that the case?
Thank you for you help.

dehumidified which make the defroster function much much better, without the ac you'll still have the defrost but i won't work nearly as well.. I'd leave it in personally.

Welcome to the board.

Bill R. is right as usual. A properly working defroster pushes warm, dry air onto your cold, wet windshield. That's why the moisture will disappear before the air is warm. If you remove the compressor you will be pushing wet air all over your windshield.

Why did you want to remove it?
