I've used that stuff to create tinted windows on my R/C cars. It works fine. Dunno if it's legal on the real thing.

I must say though, 6 months later, it has started to fade some even though I clearcoated it, but that's not really a big deal as I can take them out and respray or whatever.

I used Tamiya Smoke Tint on my lady's Focus. No problems yet. As with all paint jobs, go slow and light coats.

Looking at getting some VHT Tint Spray and doing my side markers, tails, and when the clears finally come smoke them a little bit.

sweet ... I wanna do the rear lights ... but I want to make sure that the glossy shine will remain on ... as if its a transperant smoken film on them.

Simple I dont want them to look like they are painted ...

I did the indicator parts on my rears and clearcoated them etc. and after a couple of months they started to fade a bit too but they're subject to harsh sunlight 90% of the year here. Like you said, i'll probably re-do them. It's worth giving it a go i reckon.

I wanted to tint the turn signal part of the taillights, but I wasn't sure how that would turn out as I already coated them red, and what would happen in case of fading.

If possible, the best way to acieve that would be to paint the INSIDE of the lenses. Then you'll retain the shininess of the outside surface.

Otherwise you'll have to clearcoat to restore the gloss.

Another tip from my R/C days.
