Hi,

A friend from a french Forum has a quite big problem with his E34 sedan.
While working on his trunk, he closed it, but hadn't already fitted the latch again.
So at this point, he can't open the trunk, and has no idea on how to access the latch...
Do you have an idea ? Is there a way to remove the back seat to get access into the trunk and manually operate the latch ?

Thanks for him !

And again, excuse my poor english ;)

Yes, there is a way, if he is slim and flexible like a snake.
First of all, go to my website below and visit the page of Gale. There is a description how the lock works and is adjusted.
Then first try to push the trunk lid down and then to open it at the same time. If that does not work, remove the rear seat back. In the center there is a perforated area on the wall between passenger room and trunk. This one is to install the ski bag option. Use a big hammer and just hammer that section out. Now either crawl in and pull away the carpet/cover at the back and then pull the lever.
REMEMBER: if that does not work, he has to go out thru the small hole again. So I read of some people which made a kind of hook on a long pole and pulled first the cover and then the lever. So they did not have to crawl in the trunk thru the small hole.

It is also what I was thinking, but I was wondering if there would be a way to completely remove the back of the back seat, but it seems not...

I have a skibag on my e34, the hole is quite small... :p
