Newbie!!!

Just registered; I got 520 around 4 months ago. NOT been well looked after in the mechanical department for the last couple of years, so lots of TLC on-going.... I have steering 'squeal' only when car has been driven for a few miles. Have adjusted steering box & large nut on column; he jacked up front & can't find any 'obvious' stuff. I think it might be idler arm bush on the way out, 'binding' when its warmed up with friction. Worst noise occurs when negotiating car parks. Is it likely to strand me/suddenly break? Any ideas?

I would inspect the belt first, it may be glazed over meaning its new belt time. When the belts off spin the pulleys by hand and feel for any roughness while you turn it, if its rough you need a new one.

Thanks 4 info. Squealing seems to be amplified through steering links/column, but will check belt anyhow.
