Does any one know if 100 octane gas will damage or shorten the life of an engine? Sure does make it go faster!!! Just wonder if engine will hold.

are we talking about the new optimax extreme fuel that just came out in australia? i am reluctant to put that in as it has 5% ethanol and BP fuels have less sulfur than shell fuels. but otherwise i doubt it would make too much of a difference to engine life

it should be fine just make sure it's unleaded or it will kill the 02 sensors and cats, 100ll avation gas is both leaded and formulated to burn slowly at altitude so it doesn't really make good modern car fuel

When I lived in Houston years ago some guys after a few too many beers, decided to run jet fuel in a e21 320i equipped with a turbo. They wanted to see how fast she we go. They said it was quite fast, but it just kept on revving until like the Castrol commercial.
What a mess under the hood.
Be careful and good luck,

Ahh I remember MI Citgo racing fuel. It will be fine... our car cann handle the extra octane. $6 a gallon is steep!

Many major brands of fuel are up to 10% ethanol. In those quantities it's harmless. Your owner's manual says as much.

Is there any rationale for why 100 octane fuel would make the car faster, as jriff suggests?
