Was there a cheaper OBC option for our cars or were all of them the same.
My 5'er was manufactuered in 3/92.

I ask because
1) Parked ventilation doesn't work (will fix that this spring)
2) None of the tests work

I can get test to readout on the display and even change the test number, buit when I push S/R I get nothing but the time.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to hold my tongue a different way???

I think parked ventilation doesn't work in early cars, despite it being talked about in the owner's manual. I can't get it to work in my '90 car.

Don't know about the tests.

Someone around here will know...

I believe the "cheap OBC" option was an analogue clock :)

Are you sure your OBC is unlocked?

As far as I know, most US models didn't have parked ventilation.

FWIW, my parked ventilation works. 1995 525i.

Rgh, meant to ask what you mean about OBC being "unlocked?"

You'll need to unlock the OBC first. Do a search for that here.

Ventilation is feature dependant. Mine has a timer instead of auto-vent.

Parked ventilation is described on Bruno's page how to insrtall and what is needed. If you do not know Bruno's page, link is on my website below.

When you don't have parking vent in your car, you will have a timer.
If you DO have a parking vent, but not working. You won't have a timer.
Then goodluck with repairing the park vent. :D

And my guess about the test functions is, that I think your OBC is locked.
Unlocking is described in the link from shogun.

The OBC maybe locked, not allowing you to make any changes. Have you unlocked it? Do you have a printout of displays within the test mode?

I think all OBC's are the essentially same hardware internally, it just depends what things are connected to them to determine what features they will support.

Thanks for all the replies. I had forgotten about unlocking the OBC.
