actually for the E32, but applies also for the E34, and he has the 6 cylinder engine. Very nice info, and it is growing. Worth to bookmark.

730i? I though the 735i was the one with the "big six". I was following a beige 735i to church last weekend and it swerved into any puddle it saw and tail-gated a car while the car was passing us on the two lane road. (i was riding with my brother in his acura).

A bit more complicated:
The E32 first had the 730 straight (big) 6 with 2.986 cc from 1986 till 1993, and the 735 with 3.430 cc from 1986 till 1992. Then came the M60 engine as 730 V8 with 2.997 cc 1992-1993. Then the 740 V8 M60 with 3.982 cc 1992/93, late it became the M62 on the 740 E38 with 4.4 Liter.
HP, all based on German spec.
730/6 188
735/6 211
730/8 218
740/8 286

And then there was the V12 M70 engine with 4.988 cc and 300 HP

The 730 was never sold in USA, only the 735, 740 and 750.

The straight (big) 6 were officially called M30B30 and M30B35 by BMW.
