Does anyone know if anything bad can happen if I drive my 635 w/o the instrument cluster in? I removed it 2 weekends ago to fix the battery thing, havent done it yet, and will also probally try to fab up new board connecting ribbons.

The car runs w/o the instrument cluster there, and I want to drive it to my storage place this week, and dont feel like puttin the cluster back in only to take it out again.

Funny thing is, it didnt occur to me until the other day that I have to do this during daylight as the headlight switch is on the cluster LOL.

It's illegal to drive without a working speedo, if you care about such things :)

I know it shouldn't happen, but what if you lose oil pressure, overheat or something like that -- you have no way of knowing.

Checked oil level last night, was normal...... THOUGH found a small greyish film on oil cap NOOOOOOOOO. Temp Gauge had been actin funny due to bad cluster and it wasnt overheating. So I think it just poped up... The expansion tank looked to be slightly bubling, not from temp, but maybe from air.... so I might have a bad head gasket.... NOOOOOOOOOOO.... but driving the < 7 miles to the storage I should be ok while I sulk all winter thinking about my spring repairs :-(

Interesting note, w/o the Cluster in, the battery gets drained wickedly.... not sure why..

Ah, I ended up stickin it back in for the drive to storage, just loosely though. It was fine.

Interesting note, w/o the cluster in the car the battery drains very fast. So I disconnected the battery while in storage. Plan to go start her once in a while but... more on that later.

Good thing the hood opens back to forward, as I forgot to lock it down on the drive lol.
