I need a new key and, if possible, a remote for a reasonable price. I haven't even tried the stealer because I take it for granted that he is never reasonable. I found this on eBay. It claims full compatibility with my stock alarm. Did anybody try this specific company and their products?

Did you look under the rear seat to see if you already have the alarm? If so, then all you would need is the remote.

and of course you would still need a new key

The remote I need has been impossible to find on Ebay in the last few months. Mine is like the one in e39 withput EWS.

hey that looks nice.. i installed keyless entry in mine and it wasn't nearly as nice a looking setup as that.. but it works great. i don't have an alarm on my ride ( i don't think)

very important thing to know about these keyless setups.. the locking mechanism in the e34 involves a 2-part process..

1st part is the lock going down into the door.. vertically..

2nd part is a deadbolt mechanism that moves horizontally and when it moves into place it blocks the 1st part from being able to happen... so you can't pull the lock up unless you have the key

from what i have read and looked into.. some e34s are wired a bit differently and some keyless systems only actuate the 1st part of the process. so that if you have fully locked with the key and you try to use a keyless remote to open the lock, you can actually damage the lock because the deadbolt is in place

conversely when you lock the car.. the keyless unit only does the first part of the process

next time you go to your car.. turn the key to lock.. turn it slowly until you hear it click as it locks.. then keep turning.. if you hear another click that will be the deadbolt firing into place.

some keyless companies offer relays to help get around this so that you do not damage your door. with my e34, despite the fact it does not deadbolt when you lock, it does not damage the lock system if you use the keyless to open.. so i usually lock with the key and just use keyless to open the door

i have nothing set up to work with an alarm.. i don't even know if i have an alarm to be honest

here's the reason this all matters: (other than the obvious reason that you can wreck your locks $$$$ ) when you deadbolt the locks, the trunk is virtually impregnable. if someone smashes your window and tries to get into the car.. they will not be able to pull the little pin up. this means they also will not be able to get into the trunk. this is valuable in my situation because i have a few grand worth of audio in my trunk, and i sleep soundly at night because i know there is virtually no way any punks are getting in there. and i code the car so they are not stealing it either. so anyway.. you can leave stuff in the trunk and never worry that it can be stolen

long winded post.. hope it was of some value, lol

I got a keyless entry kit from those jokers, followed the instructions on the CD (3 times) and it would only unlock the doors....didn't even flash the lights. When I called & emailed them, a week later they got back to me and said their tech was out of the country. I had to pull the unit out of the car and fight for a refund (which I hope I get) I have a '93 E34 M50
