I have replaced or witnessed being replaced the thrust arm bushings on an e34 and an e28 (on which this part is very similar) twice, on neither car was the ball joint in need of replacement. So based on my experience, i would either (if you have the time) take the arm off of the car and inspect it to see what needs replacement and then order what i need or just order the bushing.

The car is 12 years old with 200,000kms. The whole arm needs to be replaced at this stage.

if that's gone, as already stated, it would be wise to change the lot: wishbones top and bottom, ARB links and tie rods.....you'll only need to do them shortly after the thrust arm anyway as that's probably the first to go.

if you're going to do the whole lot together, just remove the whole corner assembly in a oner (wishbones and links bolted onto the strut baseplate and strut bolted on top)- don't waste effort trying to dismantle all the components with the strut assembly still attached to the car
