and came home like this

It could have been a LOT worse, but thankfully it wasn't. I was going about 65 MPH at the time and it came from the center devider.

Wow, 65mph? I think you faired rather well, assuming the photo isn't hiding a deer through your windshield :D

Time for a headlight and foglight upgrade?

Looks like you got off easy. My sympathies, but it coulda been worse.

This is why I simply will not drive in the country at night. Mulitple incidents with racoons leave me in great fear of one day hitting something bigger.

Deer are not just a country problem anymore. In Pennsylvania the city estimate for deer density is 60-70 per square mile.

Perhaps, but the light in and around cities seems to make hitting one less likely in those areas.

When I'm driving around in the Ontario countryside, and it's pitch black, I know that no amount of caution or headlights will help me if a deer jumps in front of my car. That scares me.

Okay, what I said might not apply in this case, but I stil believe that driving at night in the country is unusually dangerous.

In any case, bummer. I feel your pain.

I would hate to have something like that happen to me...deer are all over here, but there is no way for me to avoid it. I hope you have insurance for that, although it doesnt look like much more than the hood and grill and one headlight (which is not insignificant), if that happened to me, i dont know what i would do.

yea really id load em up and get revenge, flowered, buttered and fried makes a damn fine breakfast and a roast slathered in grey poupon mustard and onions/taters cooked several hours and served with some more mustard on the side makes a damn fine dinner


Yeah, was it big.....and tasty ??????

Just be glad it wasn't one of our "deers" (spelled Moose) up here in Alaska...

Nothing like 1500 pounds in your lap... :(

Here in Australia, we have a similar problem with kangaroos - except that they are built quite solidly and tend to make a big mess when you hit them. They travel in groups and you quite often see them crossing the road in front of you. Just when you think they have all crossed the road WACK!! you hit the tail end charlie.

Ah yes, had several near misses with Mr Moose ( say "Sir") when living in northern Alberta - their beltline is just about eyeball level ....

Looks like a successful hunt, unlike mine the last couple of weekends.

I guess that shows that using a rifle isn't the most effective way to get them, although it can cost about the same either way depending on the circumstances...
