View Full Version : New Sachs kit -- is this as low as it gets

I've had my Sachs kit installed on the car for six days now (you can see lots of pics by clicking on the pic in my signature).

Is this as low as the car will get, or will the springs settle some more?

If it will get lower, by how much, and when? If not, is there anything I can do to lower it a teensy bit more?

I don't know. Haven't measured.

I know a lot of people on this board have the same suspension. I'm just wondering about their experiences. Did the car get lower over time? If so, how much lower, and how much time?

Did you use the 3mm upper spring pad thingys, that's one way to shave off some a bit? The Sachs kit will settle in a little bit more over time -but not a lot more.

I dunno. Bruno installed 'em for me. 3mm ain't much, anyway.

Anything else? How 'bout getting some fat friends to sleep in the car for a week? They will accept payment in meatballs.

The 3mm M5 / 540 pad replaces the standard 10mm (15mm?) pad. The further drop is noticeable, but not "wow...."

The car will settle down slightly over a few weeks.

Yes, we did change the pads from old to new.

Your car looks noticeably lower than mine, and you've got the same wheels and suspension. Please look at my sig pic. Is that what your car used to look like immediately after installation?

I hope it will soon be as low as yours.

Hmm, I'm not sure if your car seems lower than mine or not.

Did you notice a descrease in ride height after the first weeks following installation?

I'm an idiot.

I took the old suspension out of the trunk. That did the trick.

Thanks.

Where could I get those? Are they not part of the Sachs kit?

Yup. I need to do that to mine. I think the sachs kit, paired with the 3mm spring pad would be perfect.

What size wheels and tires are you riding on? What is your ground to fender height? I just ordered the sachs kit from BMA. Maybe I should have them through in the 3mm pads!

Ok send in your info on your Sachs kits. What size wheels and tires are you riding on? What is your ground to fender height? What spring pads did you install? Did you use new dust boots?

The fact that your trim under the door is the same colour as the body adds to the illusion of it being lower!

Nice looking ride!

I measured from the road to the top of the wheel well: 65.2cm, or 25.7".

Wheels are 17". Tires are 235/45/17.

Seriously, though, after removing the old suspension from the trunk, I'm no longer unhappy with the ride height. I'm dumb for not realizing sooner what a difference 60lbs in the trunk makes. It really is okay now.
