got an e34 2.5 24v the car died all of a sudden the other day while i was driving,i have never had an ecu light took the dash appart there was no bulb in it so i put a bulb in and nothing is happening i was sure that my car being a 1992 it should of had one so i could do the foot to the floof 5 times test but nothing happens dose this mean my ecu is fubar p.s there is no coil or injector puls if this helps

your vehicle should be OBD I and there should be some type of communications port. But I am not that good with the OBD I system. Pulse and spark are controled by cam and crank postition sensor. So you may give them a looksie and see if they ohm out or have the correct voltage. Also check the timing belt/ chain. If the belt broke while driving you could have bent valves. You can check to see if you canh turn the crankshaft with a rachet by hand. If you have access to a diagnostic connector then check to see if the ecu is throwing bogus codes. Normally the ECU will throw fake codes when it has gone. Hope this helps you. Sorry to hear your problem as well. and Good luck. Oh I do have access to alldata, so if needed I can get the specs for the CMP and the CKP.

have checked all the above and the chains intact looks like a specialist will have to look at now thanks to all for trying :(
