I believe it was something about a privacy issue, this was talked about a couple weeks ago.

is there any way to go to someones public profile without finding a post by them first?

Ed said he couldn't figure out how to make it where you had to register to be able to see the members list so the next best thing he could do was just turn the list off.

I miss the list too. And it still seems like at any particular time, there are still 2 or 3 guests looking at member profiles, only now you can't tell which ones they are looking at. I was amazed to notice that there are almost 3700 people registered on this board. I guess that is a lot of email addresses to harvest.

Shall we ask Ed to turn the member list back on? It doesn't seem like it is stopping them, whoever them is, and it seems like it is only inconveniencing us.

I don't care who can see it. In fact, my e-mail is already getting full of span daily. Netscape automatically mark and delete it.

Take out the email addys if necessary/prudent. My use was find my threads started and to find post of others when I could remember the poster/post but not the thread name.

One of the problems with thread titles is that often thread strays from basic topic and some important posts are made to the "redefined" thread. Helps if a new thread is opened with a searchable topic but that seldom happens.

To be effective it would need poster power to break or copy the thread from the point of divergence and use that break point as the start of the "new" thread.

I use different emails for different things, the one here is only used here and so far I have only got 2 spam emails in the years I have been here. As for harvesting all the emails I dont think it has been done yet.
