Howzit all.

Well I'll show you guys pictures of my Bmw 525iA 1991.

It's in South Africa at the moment. And I was given it by my Dad. However I'm in the Uk and going back next month. Then I'll get to see her in the flesh and give her some much needed T.L.C. She needs it!

Anyway, on with the pictures.

As you can see she needs a good clean and some work. But she's running fine. Just the body work and interier for now.

As this is/would be my first BMW I've had I'm not too clued up on them.
So any advice is welcome.
Also, any idea where I could get new body parts for it. I.e new roundel on the front. The foglights ect?
Also want to replace the hub caps for the wheels, so the bolts dont show. Again any ideas where to get new ones from?

Also I plan to do a project of it. Engine mods ect. Want to lower her as well. Is that a thing I could do with my Dad or does it need to go to a garage to be done?

Thanks a lot for any help fella'

Umm.... I would suggest http://www.bmwe34.net for any basic info about the car, the website gives you info about almost any immediate attention problems that are basic in the car.

Although, my Dad has replaced gearbox and a lot of others things on the car. So it should be ok. Just the body work. Also can anyone tell me if I can lower it with my Dad's help, or does it need to go to some one who knows what they're doing with special tools I.E a garage, mechainice ect?

Replacement parts you can get off of a bunch of places - most popular are BMA and BavAuto, E34net has part numbers or you can just look them up on realOEM.com

Wait ... how is a '91 m20-powered ?

Anyway, lowering/doing suspension work shouldn't be hard to do at home given you have basic knowledge and spring comrpessors.

I bought my roundels and the hubcaps from BMA. I think the roundels were around $15-$16 for the pair and the hubcap were around $16-$18 each.

that car was in a front end accident? The panels do not line up good. You should see if you can at least adjust the hood to line up some, same with the lower left side front fender, then wax her up and good to go!

The lowering deal isnt that bad at all, plan on a long afternoon. Do not let the brake shield rest on the ground as you remove the strut piece. Before you are in there inspect the thrust and control arms, if they are bad this is the time to replace them as you will have to dissassemble the whole thing again to do that later.

Congrats on your "new" BMW!!!!!

No just the left front fender was badly mashed, but my Dad replaced it, and the left side doors were badly scratched, he fixed that as well. How would I go about lining it all up?

One of the few things u can do i tihnk is to undo all the bolts on the fenders and move it around a bit. Depending on how the doors were fixed that might need some adjusting too - if they were actually taken off, they might need a bit of adjustment in that case, since they might not have been put on correctly (not lined up correctly when put back on) - in that latter case just undo the door bolts (slightly) and move the doors around, in the case of doors there should be quite a bit of play there.

That's one thing I've got on my list. It kind of got pushed up (Or Back), since the fender I was having a little alignment problem was hit by one of my co-workers cars this week. That fender already had a little bondo on it, so I'm thinking of getting a new one with his money and then having both front fenders painted.
