When I push my clutch all the way in, I hear a strange squeaking sound. The sound is quite audiable from the outside of the car moreso than from the inside - I hear the squeak sound pushing the clutch in, but no sound when the clutch springs back. Any thoughts?

That's what mine did on its way out. The next step will be a crunching feel at the end of the clutch pedal travel.

I sure hope youre wrong :( - the clutch feels fine, the reservoir level has not changed. Is there anything else that would create a squeaking noise much more audiable on the outside than the inside of the car? How much is a clutch job anyways?

I paid $500 for clutch + guibo.

Mine didn't affect the fluid level; mine was the actual clutch plate wearing through. You could have someone else push down the clutch pedal while you listen at the bellhousing to see if that's mthe origin.

Good Luck

Dave,

judging by your experinece, does my situation require immediate attention? how long do I have before I take it to the shop?

I drove on mine with the squeak for a few months.

I took it in when I got the crunch at the bottom of the clutch pedal travel. I don't think that a worn clutch plate will leave you stranded without notice if that's what you're worried about. I don't know about hurting the transmission.

However, you may want to practice driving without the clutch for a while....(search the archives here - it's not as hard as you think...)

I have the same squeek, but have just had my clutch replaced. Started about a month after the job. I payed over a grand and the guy did a horrific job. I won't take my car back to him. I'd love to know what the squeek is though.

Also, anybody know where I should take my car in the Central Willamette Valley, in Oregon?
