e36 and e46 wheel question

Ok, I know that all 5-lug BMW wheels are 5x120 bolt pattern, but is the offset the same between e36 and e46 models? I seem to remember e36's are 35mm, and e46 possibly 38mm? Is this close enough to swap around?
