I have an E34, the original service booklet under vehicle data
says its a "518i (Model HA 12)".
Does anyone know what that means?

If you look at the vin number it will have the HA12 in there somewhere. For instance my model run of 535's was known as HD12,s by BMW NZ.If you can find it(Hopefully someone will post a link) it is quite interesting to run your vin through a VIN decoder. If no one else does i have a coupla links at home....If you havent already guessed my vin has a HD12 in it

Maybe if you put your VIN in, you might get some information on the mysterious Ha12. Good Luck!

Spot on! The vin decoders worked wonders!
It tells you quite a bit about your car.

Cheers

Mine has an HB11, I now know my 520i is the ECE version (which is probably why it's picky with the fuel I use) and it was manufactured on 12/89, engine type is M20 B20, and I apparently have a driver side airbag!

if a HA12 is a 518,a HB11 is a 520 and a hd12 is a 535( all 89 man it seems) what is your guess for a 89 euro 525.......
