So far, I've had no luck finding the correct tool (or press) for removal of the control arm/thrust arm ball joint. Can someone please ring in on the location where these tools are sold?

btw: I've already tried the pickle fork with no avail; it's teeth is just undescribable now haha. BMA doesn't have the listing with the part numbers but knows what I was talking about when I mentioned the same dilemma to which they recommend that I try "realoem.com" but I've searched high and low in that website and nada.

TIA.

This website seems to have allt he BMW tools you can ever need -- I looked and found the ball joint puller for e34, but I haven't figured out how to order or what the price is. I guess you have to call.

I used a standard two-prong puller... just use a basic one - its very simple. Basically what i realized in the repair of my BMW is that you do not need any special tools to do anything in it - just make sure to use metric ones :-)

the balljoints are a bitch, if you use a pickle fork on the car you need at least a #10 sledge and a lot of brute strength. Bill R reccomends taking the whole lower housing off and doing it in a vice. I personally used the sledge method and still needed to heat it with an acetyline torch to get it to "pop" out.

Just use an air hammer -- takes two seconds and they'll pop right out. I used a pickle fork and a sledge the first time I did a set and they came out after a few minutes of work. I now use an air hammer because it's fast and easy.

If you really want the correct tool to do it:
