518i or M5

My recent reply to the 'Buying an E34' caused a stir about a certain female (sorry girls), being attracted to my '89 525i. It's certainly not the pick of the breed but do non-BMW people know... or care? Of course not. Given the discreet nature of the M5 I would doubt if more than .1% of the population of any country would know one if they saw it. They couldn't tell it apart from a 518i. People see the badge and that's it.

Until you leave them behind like they're sitting still. I think really only car guys/ girls notice anything M, even the new M5 is pretty subtle. It still looks menacing, but would the trophy wife in the new 525 give it a second glance? That's what I love about them, the wolf in sheep's clothing appeal. Leave the ostentacious(sp?) stuff to the Evo/ Sti crowd.
