Link to heater core procedure????

Well, now I gotta replace the heater core. I ordered it and it arrived with tubes attached. I'm now looking for the best procedure for replacing it. Does anyone have a link?

That's a pretty labor / time heavy job (One I've still got to get to - my heater core is bypassed). Let us know how it goes.

Record time in Germany on an E32 is 5 hours. Someone found a way to pull it out on one side (forgot pass or driver side) w/o a lot of disassembing other stuff.
I am just on the way to remove the IHKA unit (box) from my #1 parts car including the heater core. Have the full dash out, no more steering wheel, console out, no more seats etc.
Lucky, that I do not have to reassemble it again, really confusing, all the screws and wire looms etc.
I only can recommend to make fotos and a lot of notes where and how you removed what, otherwise there are many parts where you might have no idea where they belong to.

That's a pretty labor / time heavy job (One I've still got to get to - my heater core is bypassed). Let us know how it goes.



It wasn't that bad of a job. Took me about 6 hours if I remember right, and I had just bought the car so I had not taken anything apart on it yet. Now if I had to do it again I would say 4 hours.

I did our 92 525i in about 6 hours, didn't have to remove the dash cover. Probably removed all the underdash panels on both sides, the console, the radio and heater controls. I don't have any notes on it but it seemed straight forward.

The heater core o-rings were the only thing leaking but there was no way I was going to replace just them after going this far.

I didn't remove the dash top either, just the center components and the side panels and glove box. The Bentley manual has a fairly good procedure for this.

Took about five hours total, but could be done in less time.
