It was an option for the Individual series cars in Canada (M540i). Ricey would be the lame stick-on stuff. I have some pieces that I made myself with a vacuum bag setup that didn't turn out too bad. Medium to light 4 harness weave and some surfboard resin goes a long ways.

Definitely alot better than a typical aftermarket peel-n-stick, or even worse, the "carbon fiber look" vinyl crap the kiddiez use.

I think it would work... But it would have to be good quality and fit well.

Nothing worse than seeing crappy asian knock-off rubbish!! Some of it is good, but most is crap.

Good luck, let us know if you have success :)

Hey Ralph This is for you. Before you take your turn at asking what the abbreviation means. From one old person to another :D

Carbon fiber trim, especially in the E34, needs execellent to perfect skills for keeping the weave smooth and flat. Not to mention, the weave in that picture isn't very flattering, and it's definitely not something that belongs in a lighter interior car.

In my black interior, the carbon fiber trim looks nice. Provides contrast, some style, and people always ask what it is because it's glass smooth and very 'deep' looking.

The carbon fiber trim in that M540i is stock BMW and has some of the ///M colors in it. Looks really good in person.

Yeah, I've seen a piece of it before; It might look better with a darker interior, but that's just my eyes. I wish it were available still, I'd order the kit just to see what it looks like complete and in person.

There's a *small* chance it is, but it was only available on the Canadian M540i, and it appears (at least at a cursory glance) that it's not available. I've got my parts guy investigating it. I've got the prices on a few of the pieces, and they're not completely terrible. Should be interesting to find out the verdict on availability.

I've seen it here in PA on a US spec M5. Black on Black. The weave is really cool because it has the motorsport colors in it.

I'm also looking into a new trim; the original is starting to crack. I've seen some on eBay but I don't think they are worth the hassle, not mentioning the money.
