Hello,

On my 525 1988 m20 engine, if I hold accelerator pedal to keep steady 2000rpm and press A/C button, rpm gradually rises to about 4000rpm. And stays there until A/C cluctch disengages, or I remove foot from accelerator pedal.

Could anyone do the same test on his car and post the results? I am wonderring if there is something wrong with my car, or is it normal?

thanx!

I hope you're not doing this in park. I'll try it tonight on the road.

If your car is automatic, don't rev it in park or netural. You can destroy your tranny. Like Ralph said, I'll try it on the road for you tonight and see how much of a rpm rise I get.

It's not a matter off too much torque, it's the well documented ZF4HP22 design fault... Has seen many transmissions destroyed during emissions testing in the states.

I just got back home. Driving steady at 2k rpm, AC on ... can't even tell that there is a rpm jump. Maybe a couple of hundred rpm at most. I know at idle, it's a couple hundred as well.

edit: maybe not even that much.
