The 525 TDs Diesels from '93 ish, what sort of bores/crankcases do these have?
Ive read quite a few odd posts about this Nikosil issue and wondering whether to get a BMW diesel after all...........

(dont fancy an engine without liners/running on coated ally with cast iron/chromium rings--Just doesnt sound a good reliable idea to me, Built in obsolecence/End-Of-Life ??.........)

Don't know your location...but in the North America...the only engines/cars with Nikasil were the M60 V8 ... and that would be in the M60 B30 (530i) and the M60 B40 (540i/740i/il/840i).

In Europe only the single VANOS M52 units in the E36/E34/E39 were affected...and even then, not all of these engines were affected.

only the Euro M52.......only the Euro M52.....only the Euro M52...only the Euro M52...only the Euro M52...only the Euro M52

Remember, only the Euro single VANOS M52 engines utilized Nikasil...NO M52 Nikasil engined BMWS were imported to the USA!!!!

BTW...the overstating was not directed at you HC II...just trying to cut down on the repurcussions of everyone in the USA that has an M52 going into panic mode thinking they will have Nikasil issues! (LOL)
