View Full Version : weight of 5 speed tranny??

Guys,

I'm trying to figure out the weight of 2 E34 5 speed tranny's I have- for shipping cost. 1 is a '90 535i 5 speed Getrag, the other is a '92 525i 5 speed ZF. ETK shows something like 26kg (???), which seems too light.

Any ideas???

i have held the 525i ZF before, it's damn light. I picked it up no problem

I pulled the 535i Getrag today, and it's about 75# according to my scale. Guessing the 525i ZF is approx the same, but I'll let you know when it's out- unless someone can tell me before then!!

When Martin puts mine in my car, he gives about a 75lb grunt. :)

(Also, feels about like that when I pick one up).


I pulled the 535i Getrag today, and it's about 75# according to my scale. Guessing the 525i ZF is approx the same, but I'll let you know when it's out- unless someone can tell me before then!!
