'89 535i trunk latch failed. HELP!

Can't close and lock the trunk. Guess I need a new latch mechanism, since the old one no longer operates along with the door locks, when a key is turned. Looks like an easy fix, but I need to leave for Denver, with a 535 full of stereo gear bright and early Wednesday morning.

Any advice appreciated

Did you try resynchronizing the locks? I forget the exact procedure but I think you lock and unlock the front passenger door and hold it for a few seconds.
