While pulling my headliner out & re-covering it this weekend (that was a real FUN.... "experience" :( .....), I found a small pre-wired harness tucked away behind the map lights along the roof- Exact same plug as on my E65 RV mirror (that I upgraded to) w/ garage door opener, alarm clown-nose LED & electro-chromatic features.... It is definitely a mirror pre-wire as it has the rubber boot that would pull through the headliner to the mirror base- For kicks I plugged in the pre-wired harness into the mirror base- the RV mirror suddenly got the green tint to it (must have been the electro-chromatic kicking in), hit the arm button on the alarm..... It wound up blowing the alarm fuse under the rear seat so...... I need to know if anyone knows the wire pin-outs for this harness (as in what each wires function is.....) I do not currently do not have the electro-chromatic or the garge door opener feature hooked up on the E65 mirror.... yet :D I ran a seperate harness for the clown nose to the alarm brain so that would illuminate when armed-

I have read:

Pin #1 Yellow/ Blue
pin #2 Red/ Black (always hot +)
pin #3 Purple/ Yellow (+)
pin #4 White/ Purple
pin #5 White/ Red w/ Yellow dots
pin #6 Blue/ Red w/ yellow dots
pin #7 Brown/ red w/ yellow dots
pin #8 White/ Yellow
pin #9 NONE
pin #10 Brown/ orange

TIA for any help-

Don, sorry I have no pin-out info...but I did discover the wiring harness for the electro-chromatic mirror this summer, too. I tried the electro-chromatic mirror from my e38 and it worked...the only problem...the BMW/Alpine keyless entry system stopped working. It didn't blow a fuse or anything...and if I didn't have keyless entry...the mirror would work perfectly.

I guess I've got to use the electro-chromatic mirror from the 1993-94 e32 since it had the same type of keyless entry system. Waiting for someone to be parting one out. :D

I put this page together this summer when I discovered the wire: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/739005/5

Good luck.

I've got one, but I think it's going into our 750 loaner. Came out of a '94 740iL.

Thanks for the reply Q-

I think I found out the correct pin-out I need that is for the electro-chromatic. I wound- waaay in the back of the Bentley maunal the correct pin-out/ wiring. Tomorrow I will disect the factory loom & re-wire the EC wire into the E65 rv mirror base (crossing fingers).

Keep your eyes peeled on eBay, I see E34/ E32 EC mirrors a lot on there.....
Thanks-

If you decide not to install it in the 750...put me first on your list. ;)
