Hi guys, need your help again.

1990 535

On the way home from a 6 hour drive I developed a transmission fluid leak. Turns out that the the seal for the torque converter failed. Not only did it let fluid leak out, it created a grove in the torque converter. Now the new seal will not seat properly and fluid still leaks out.

Called BMA, $1300 for a torque converter from them. OUCH the seal was only $7.

Does any one know where I can get a less expensive one, refurbished one or even a used one.

Any help greatly appreciated

I would go for a used one, have it flushed out unless you know the conditions of the trans it came out of. These things rarly fail and when they do its usually from a fried trans. There is a few out here that dismantle you could also post a want ad in the classifieds forum.

I've got a used one but can't ship it until mid to late next week.

I'd be concerned that the input shaft was damaged. Winfred's done work on these and may have further insight.
