EGO sensor #1?

I've never heard that terminology before, unless EGR, Exhaust Gas Return, was meant, which doesn't even relate to BMW because no BMW, to my knowledge, has ever had an EGR valve or assembly.

EGO Sensor #1 1221 2221 1221 1221 1221
EGO Sensor #2 -- -- -- 1212 --

I am sure i have read what ego stands for somewhere. This is bugging me I can't remember or find it .

Mr. Bentley doesn't list those codes in the engine chapter.

The 4-wire oxy sensor has a heater inside and heats up the system to a certain temperature. Till then the ECU works with a default value from the oxy sensor.

temp faster, this allows o2 sensors to start reacting much quicker than the early style that doesn't have a heater built into it.
