I think there may have been a thread on this issue before but I am having difficulty locating it...

so when I push the brakes harder than I normally would...I hear this whine, it goes away once I start accelerating...but it is bothersome nonetheless.

what could this be? is there an easy solution?

If it coming from the wheels or from under the hood drivers side.

Then you can determine what is the cause.

Do your parents know you've got the car?

does it kinda seem like it could be the tires but not able to pinpoint the area? I have the same issue, perhaps its the engine mounts when the engine is forced forward it gets worse?

Sounds like the same problem I noted on pop's '90 535iM. Is your noise worse when the engine is cold? I suspect it's something with the steering pump because the whine changes pitch if I turn the steering wheel. Perhaps a PS fluid flush is in order.

It's not "normal" 'cuz the 535 didn't do it when I owned it but started to do it recently. ~250,000kms on it now.
