I know there has been talk of it in the past and I am not sure if anyone met or not but I would like to get together on a Saturday or Sunday and talk shope. Maybe get some advice. Any takers?

I'm in. I'll supply the space if you guys supply the BS... We can meet out here at our farm- I can make a couple of parts cars available if you guys want to practice pulling parts so you don't mess up your own cars :)

I'm about 30 minutes SE of Raleigh, between Garner and Clayton (sort of....). About 5 miles off I-40 Exit 312.

We have a large farm, plenty of open space to **** and BS. I've got tools, a couple of jacks + stands, and a few BMW parts cars to mess with too.

We have quite a few E34 folks in this part of the world- BillB still has not been out to the farm- maybe this will inspire him!!! :P

I'm there! I'll have to dust off the touring though... Been sitting in the garage since gas went over $3/gal.

Bill - we like our little E36 so much that my wife *almost* is interested in Ginger! I need to work on her a little more.

A *few* parts cars!?!? Talk about judicious understatement :)

So Whit... We need an eye witness reporter to tell us the real story. I have heard about that bmw farm. Just how many bmws would you estimate are there?

Count me in.

Bret, I'm still in the market for a manual driveshaft for the '87 325is. Wonder what would it cost to rebalance if the back half of an auto was merged with front half of a manual?

Any interest in inviting e28 folks. Lot in common, especially the bullet proof front suspension (yeah!) and the engines.

Suggest a date after 10/15.

I won't say we're overly motivated, but I know you'd give her a good home!

I've got some commitments the remaining two weekends in October, and November's tight too.

Let's nail down a time. Anyone own a pig cooker?

:p

There's a Smithfield's bbq about 3 miles from Bret's farm, iirc. That might be easier.

Not sure about the 15th with me... daughter's birthday. Not that she wants ME to be there (ahhh to be 17 again...)

I'm game too, now that I moved north Raleigh from Pinehurst. It'd be great to finally meet you folks. Plus, I could use some advice on the latest gremlins with my 540/6. (a/c heater vents and sword, and cruise control)
Lets try to nail a date on some weekend - the more notice the better for me.

When I went, there were several e34's in various stages of distress and lots more 3 series. This is where I got my rear bumper.

OK Gayle,

Bessie here will be your eyewitness:

In the spirit of full disclosure, that pic was taken a couple of months ago- so the inventory has changed a bit (read: grown).

Off the top of my head, I've got an '89 525ia, '90 535iM, '92 525iM, '93 525iM, '95 525ia. Add to those a 20+ year collection of 2002's, 320i's, a pair of E21 323i's, and a slew of E30's and you've pretty much got it. There are cars stuck in barns, tractor sheds and old hog barns, plus the cow pasture- probably ~35-40 in total. Since scrap metal prices are high right now, I've decided to make it a priority to haul off those cars that have been stripped of their useable parts.....I just hope I can haul off 2 for every 1 new arrival...

And not an E36 in sight?!?! Looks like fun, I'll try to remember to wear the sh*t-kickers.

Yeah Scott- I've been sort of looking to buy an E36 parts car- but so far I've been sticking to the E30's and E34's mostly- since my wife and I both drive them (well- I now have an E34 AND an E30 "daily" driver).

I'll definitely let you know if I get one.

And, yes, it's a good idea to NOT wear your best $300 Gucci's out here..... :)

Seems like we have a preferred date. November 12. Can everyone confirm? 11/12 is the tournament for my son's soccer team so I may or may not be able to attend but for those of you who will be in attendence, can we nail down a time? Will it be a lunch time thing (BBQ for lunch) or late afternoon (BBQ for dinner)? Also for those of us who have young sons who are just as fanacial about cars as their fathers, can we bring them along or will this be a strictly get together for old farts?

Thanks guys and I look forward to meeting you all at "the farm".
