first day of spring on the weekend and it was perfect weather, so i washed the car and took some photos of it.. at last i have some decent photos of my car! worth sharing i thought, i know red isn't a favorite color for most of you, but once the black bits are painted i think it looks good (previous owner did the color coding)

It's a LEMON.

LOL! :) Just kidding :)

WOW! Red is hot! I just saw a red E34 525tds today when I was coming back from work, and it really kicks ass! Not so many red ones out there, that's why it looks so exotic and refreshing.

What shade of red is that? Is it the "must be speeding and am obviously begging for a ticket" red or the "I'm just too sexy for my tires" red?

When we have the virtual car show you and bahnstormer can have a red face off. Check out your competition. I kind of like voodoo's car but I don't think voodoo is around any more.

I honestly think you need a Shadowline treatment........not a big fan of the Monochrome look, but if you lose the chrome wwindow trim, I may have a change of heart......can you NOT get a speeding ticket with this car?

How the heck do you take those B&W / Color pictures?

Photoshop. Looks like he masked out the car, then blurred and desaturated the background.

Funny how that was a very popular colour for the contemporary 3 series, but not the 5. Anyway, the colour coding of the trim pieces improves the looks no end, IMHO. Very nice.

awesome pictures, I also agree with Peter on the shadowline for the window trim.

looks like someone plunked down a Hotwheels car on top of a black and white picture. Nice job! There are two red E34's I seed come in the shop but they certainly don't look as nice as this one.

terrific. I agree with the others that black shadowline trim around the windows would set it off. I love red E34's.

Looks too go to be real. Nice car. What kind of suspension do you have on it?

Randell

wow thanks for the compliments everyone!

i definitely agree with the shadowline trim suggestions, the profile of the car looks a bit odd with the chrome outline around the windows.. one day i'll get round to it!

the wheels are 18x8 style 65 (? e39 m5) replicas... they were cheap as chips i think, $1800AUD with Falken rubber (pretty good considering the tyres are $300 a pop). for the price they're good, but i'm always looking out for some REAL wheels (those staggered style 5s some of you guys have make me drool)

i can't really take any credit for the way this car looks, the PO did it up to this level and i just went 'i'll take it!'. the suspension is stock, except for being lowered 1" at the front (not sure what springs were used, but it's not a chop job!)

and yeah, the black & white thing was just a photoshop... polygonal lassoo around the car, copy it and paste it back over the top, then blur the background and make it greyscale... 5 min job but effective

my photography skills pretty much sum up to 'press the button that goes click'. i took the shots with a canon ixus30, 3.2mpixels... no special settings, just had it on auto as the sun was out and the camera only needs manual settings if the lighting is bad

I think it looks great! Just add the shadowline trim and leave the rest as it is.

I'm not usually a fan of red cars but that thing looks great. I wouldn't change the wheels, I think they look perfect on there. The only thing I would do is the before mentioned shadowline and repaint the tow covers back to black, but that's just me. I really like thetrim painted red, updates the car.

repaint the tow covers back to black

good idea!

i did a rough photoshop job (eye squinting may be required to get full effect).. i like the way it looks, though when i ran the shadowline idea past my girlfriend this afternoon she said the chrome compliments the wheels.. which i agree with, it kinda sets it apart from the standard falcon/commodore garden variety sedans we have over here. i might try the tape method first to see if i really like it

I second that.

I might leave the chrome alone, though.

the touch of chrome adds a bit of class as well as complimenting the wheels.... your woman has brains!
Good choice Randell!
