Hi,
I have a 1990 535i with a 5 speed and about 147K on the clock. The car has been great for the past year plus I've owned it. Today, on my way to work I noticed that the idle was too fast, close to 1400 RPMs up from it's normal 800 or so RPMs. I tried reving it a bit, but nothing helped. The car was the same on the way home. I know that there was an Idle Control Module on my old 325e that was know to be a problem, anything similar on the 535i? Any other suggestions or things to check?
