It's so hard to get a picture of a black car.
What's the best light?

Looking at the reflection of the house next door can give some idea of the bomb ass wax job I put on. I got the sunset pic coming home from fishing last night.

Its amazing what a good wax can do. I had this scratch on mine since I bought it and I waxed it about 2 weeks ago and the thing just disapeared. Great Job on yours!

yes i have difficulty getting a good pic of my car too...it always looks better in real life
I reckon dark cars look better in "low light" situations....

So the sunset is reflecting off the 'bomb-ass' wax job then?? :D

Overcast is best. The clouds evenly distribute the light all over the ground making cars really shine and reflect well.

overcast, dawn (early morn sun), or dusk (acts as filtered light)...or you have to wet the car down. Trying to shoot a black car in bright sun light...you'll never really be happy with the outcome. Ever notice in photos and film...that the streets are usually wet even though its a sunny day? ;) It was really noticable in a movie I saw not to long ago...The Island...it had that African actor (Djimon Hounsou) who is very dark...and in his scenes...they have him spritzed down with so much water that he looks like he's sweating or smeared with vaseline...while the other (Caucasian) actors are dry as a bone!

Dark subjects just require different lighting when photographing or filming.

Example 1 (photo shot with overcast sky at dusk)

Example 2 (shot on sunny day around noon...note less detail)

BTW, I'm not a professional photographer...but I have stayed at Holiday Express! :D
