So I came to a stoplight last week, was idling, and noticed a sudden really rough idle. Looked down, and of course my CEL was on. Limped the car back home (half a mile), performed the stomp test (showed coded 1212) and shut the car down for a bit.
Went back out a little later, started the car up, no CEL no rough idle. Drove to the BMW dealer and back (5 miles), no problems. Saturday night, start the car to head to the store, seems fine. Come to a stop sign.. rough idle, CEL flashes. Drove home, parked the car. Read the codes, 1212 again.. only this time, I can't get the CEL to reset. It never comes to a stop (just reads 1212 infinitely. well, I let it go for 20 minutes and it never stopped).
How the !@$!@ do I get the CEL reset? Did it really store a few hundred codes?

I replaced the 02 sensors and tried again, giving it 15+ minutes to run the codes, and still no stop.
