not bad at at all. freaking scary I'd imagine. Looks like an oil temp gauge underneath the tacho. I've only hit 200 kms. image all that wind noise. Is that the oil temp gauge. it's hitting 135? that doesn't mean much to me.

Yes that's the oil temp gauge, and the temp looks way too high to me, the hottest i have ever seen mine in my M5 has been like just a tad over 100 and that was driving hard here in Sicily a few weeks ago on a 106 degree day. I cant imagine whats going on with that car.

Your 535i should be able to hit atleast 235 (or 240-245 chipped). Heck, I got to 240 on the clock with a chipped 525i.

Btw., maybe his oil level is low (or somewhere near the low mark on the dipstick), he lives in Kuwait and is running away from Bin Laden :)

why did i get the utterly useless 'mercedes-benz wannabe tarted up vacuum gauge' aka the economy gauge instead of an oil temp gauge?!

Like this one?

Note the oil temp. I've never seen mine past 110C.

the economy gauge is the sh*t :P how else would i know driving 60mph gets me 30-35mpg in a 215HP v8?

but technically, your 525 doesn't have a dash mounted oil temp gauge becuase you probably couldn't physically drive it hard enough to ever need one without destroying something else first :) maybe if you were FI...

or else, bmw just wanted the m5'ers to feel special.
