A friend's 1998 E36 has a very strange problem.
His A/c doesnt work most of the time , and he cant do anything about it ,No fan , no cold air , or anything . Every once in a while while driving , it would turn on by itself. He can then adjust everything but it doesnt last long.

where should we start to troubleshoot.
TIA - drooby

if just the blower was crapping out id say it's the power stage (electronic blower speed control) with everything comeing and going id be looking for stuff like a cracked fuse as the german crimped fuses can look good and not be

Possibly look for a blown resistor pack (easy to fix and cheap). Also, look for any blown fuses relating to the AC or blower.

Yes, i guess it was Kinda what you said. We're all just putting our 2cents here - what's the big deal if one says it one way and another the same way but differently?

If it's credit you want for being able to pin-point the problem then it's all yours....c'mon we're better then that.
