:) undefinedHi Everyone,
I have a ’93 535i “big six” auto, all stock. I’m looking for a list that will get me ~ 300bhp. I’m looking for “Best Value” I will hunt these items down one by one as I am a bargain hunter. I’m sure we have enough people here to whip up some affordable quality whip. Any input is very much appreciated. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Mobius is right, get a dual turbo system with two of these. The dyno graphs on the website look about right.

What about Spiralmax. A lot of big claims on their site. And hell, if it can help I'd be willing to get one.

i don't see how they expect to sell this without more information and better photos. i was considering getting a kit but their lack of info on the site and their brief, uninformative email responses turned me off of the idea

I have a degree in Vehicle Design, we studied these pieces of crap. In THEORY if you can swirl your intake charge into your combustion chamber you can get more complete combustion and hence more power. However, this must be done in the intake port right before the valve, or better yet accomplished by the factory port design. Placing this thing way down your intake track before the plenum chamber will do nothing. The volume of the plenum chamber will allow the airflow to straiten itself undoing any benefit that the initial swirl may have done. They can legally advertise these because they are always careful to say "up to X-hp gain". Legally a loss of horsepower is "up to X-hp gain" because there is no guarantee for '*at least* X-hp'. Don't waste your money.

I think it was European car that actually did dyno tests with these, it showed a max gain of something like .25hp (yes 1/4hp) down low and a loss of nearly 1hp up top. Placing things in your intake track, no matter what they are restricts airflow.

If you spool your M30 engine, you might want to think about either getting a good back-up auto tranny or converting to a manual tranny as well.

Whitt is right, why would you want to change? I have heard good and bad reports on the gearbox's strength, both for turbo m30's with the auto trans. the bad report was from zoom magazine who's auto trans strated to "flare" up at 134rwkw, this was with a increase in line pressure extra clutches. this is a very poor effort. because standard is around 120rwkw. Then I know of another gentleman with a e23 745i engine and gearbox LHD stuffed into a 1986 635i. he's running over 800 nm with no problems.

Wow, I thought the site was pretty informative and detailed. At least enough for someone with any kind of serious interest to email or call us. Be happy that we spend our time developing great product instead of just great marketing.
:D

Give me a call anytime at 614-734-1422. You can also email me at tcd@turbochargingdynamics.com

Did you really look through the entire site and not find the info you wanted?

Yep, the auto tranny is very sensitive for turbo in the long run, but, upgrading to full synthetic tranny oil and adding an electric fan with a separate sensor for the outgoing tranny oil to your cooling system will keep everything in right working order. Changing to manual would only be a wise thing to do if you´re upgrading to a M5 box, the standard big six box is no improvement at all.
