e34 short shifter?

I can't see why not, they are all mechanically identical. It's just the lengths/bends that differ to suit the application-don't forget to buy a new plastic locking collar from the dealer! I fitted a non-oem short shifter to my car, that I took off an e30. I also shortened the shaft length too, and fitted an aluminium shifter knob. The base of the selector knob is the same height as the gear surround board. The result was a really short stubby gear selector that feels cool and comfortable - in fact it's L O V E L Y !

Of course you can, a few folks have had good luck with the Z3 lever. I have tried out a few different versions of OEM short shifters and none of them compare to the UUC shifter IMHO. It shifts like a hot knife through butter and makes the car even more enjoyable to drive. The price is steep compared to an OEM version but well worth it to me. Do a little search of the archives and you will see many lengthy discussions on the topic.

In my search, I called the guys at Rogue Engineering and since they don't make an e34 SSK, they suggested using an e60 545 lever to shorten things up just a bit. Has anyone tried the e60 lever? It would be interesting to see how it compares to the Z8, M3, etc...

I test drove a 545i 6-spd and one thing I noticed was how long the shift travel was. I have the Euro e36 M3 shift lever in mine and like the short travel. I did have a .gif file comparing various stock shifters but the link to it is broken. The Z3 1.9 4-cyl is nice, the Euro e36 M3 is shorter, part number for it is 25 11 1 222 955

Is a bend required for the Z3 or euro m3 shifter? Did that put the shift pattern in the right place?
