Hey Fellas,

My 525iA has a build date of 9/92 and a service manual that says 1993 on the front cover.

My A/C commpressor is failing. It still blows very cold, but the mechanicals are going south. The 1993 e34's used R-134a as the refridgerant, while 92's used R-12.

Here's my question:

Which one do I have? Build says 92 service manual says 93. Are there any markings on the compressor that would identify it as either r-12 or r-134a?

There should be a sticker at the front of the engine bay.

R134a should have different High and Low pressure fill fittings than the R-12.

The R134a ones won't have any threads on the outer surface of the fitting and the Low side one with be smaller than the High side one.
