We have probably had our week of warm weather this year but in the absence of anything else to fix, I thought I would set about the air con.
Tried a tin of top up , hard to find and expesive in the uk, no good so had it regassed. The aircon fella found a leak in the condenser so took his gas back and didnt charge me.

So the next job on the agenda is a new condenser.

Is it just the bumper off or the grill as well?

Considering theres no gas in the system, can I just unbolt the condenser, fit the new one then take to the aircon guy to vac/fill?

Should I do the drier at the same time?

any guidence/views/experience would be appreciated:

Thanks

Ian

Hey Ian.

Yes, it is that easy, but make sure that the system has been evacuated prior to opening it (sounds like that was the case).

Installation of the condensor is pretty routine. It's theoretically a good idea to replace the r/d every time the system is opened, but in my world of hack A/C repairs, that often gets overlooked.

Make sure that, when the system is refilled, you have them vacuum it for at least 15 min. This will help to verify the integrity of the repair.

Best, whit
