sunroof

Hi all, I bought a 91 525i and the sunroof will not open. The person who sold me the car handed me a plastic piece he said came out somewhere and had a heck of a time closing it. The sunroof will attempt to open but stops almost immediatly. I do not want to mess with this until I have an idea of what may be going on. Any ideas? Thank You. duby55

Any chance of a pic of the loose plastic part? Can you wind the roof manually?

You should be able to manually open the roof. The mechanism to adjust the roof is located near the light near the rear-view miror. Check your user manual to learn how to manually open the sunroof. Check to make sure that there are no obstructions preventing normal operation of the sunroof. Also, check to see that the sunroof motor is not dead.
